Are you ready for the LEZ changes and Direct Vision Standard?

/ / News

Stricter LEZ emissions standards begin on 1st March 2021. Originally postponed giving affected businesses time to meet the new standards due to the coronavirus pandemic. Commercial vehicles (over 3.5 tonnes GVW) including lorries, buses, coaches and specialist vehicles will need to meet Euro 6 (NOx and PM) standards. Vehicles not meeting the new standards will be subject to a daily charge to drive within the Greater London area.

Full details can be found on the TFL website – Changes to the LEZ – Transport for London (tfl.gov.uk)

Vehicles over 12 tonnes GVW driven in Greater London are also required to have an HGV Safety Permit that shows your vehicle meets Direct Vision Standards (DVS).  Applying for a permit is free, vehicles without a permit may receive a PCN (Penalty Charge Notice).

There will be a 90-day period of grace for the permit, but to benefit from the grace period, evidence must be submitted from the fitter/garage on branded documentation with details of your appointment and (VRN) Vehicle Registration Number, before 1 March, to DVSGracePeriod@TfL.gov.uk.
